Cheryl Haithco Collection

Painting has always served as a means of escape and relaxation for Cheryl ever since she began drawing as a child. When she paints, her creative thoughts take over, compelling her to continue until her vision is fully expressed on the canvas. Her inspiration stems from the beauty of nature, the contrast between light and dark, and the subtle gestures and expressions found in everyday life, such as the tilt of a head or the expression on a child's face. Cheryl primarily uses acrylics to create works centered on nature, travel, and human expression and interaction. Through her vibrantly colored paintings, she aims to capture and convey the beauty of life. She sees her artwork as snapshots of daily moments and the wonders of the natural world, rather than strictly as art objects. Her hope is that viewers will be encouraged to reflect more deeply on calming thoughts and appreciate life’s precious moments.

"My passion for art began early, inspired by my mother who introduced me to drawing and painting during visits to the Detroit Institute of Arts while I was growing up in Detroit. I was constantly drawing, and with the encouragement of my parents, my interest in art continued through my education at Mercy High School and later as an art major at Mercy College. While pursuing my art career, I spent over nineteen years working as a nonprofit fundraising professional. In 2010, I began returning to my first love, drawing and painting and by 2016, I embraced my passion for art full-time. My work has also been part of a rotating exhibition in all Beaumont Hospital locations.
Additionally, my paintings have been exhibited and sold at the Detroit Historical Museum, the Cause and Affect Gallery in Fenton, The Hawk in Farmington Hills, and the Farmington Hills City Hall. In 2020, two of my paintings were shown at The Charles H. Wright Museum in Detroit. My work was juried into the Farmington Hills City Hall two-year display in 2019, 2022, and 2024, and most recently, I had a solo show there. Henry Ford Health Systems acquired three of my paintings for its personal collection. Four of my works were featured in the Blue Cross Blue Shield building in Grand Rapids for ArtPrize 2022, at Devos Convention Center for ArtPrize 2023, at Intercept Studios for ArtPrize 2024, and my Walking Series at 2rst in ArtPrize 2025. My paintings have found homes throughout the United States and Europe."
